This session is aimed at staff who need to use evidence in their role, and would like to be able to critically appraise the evidence they have found to determine the quality and relevance of it for their project.
This session has a workshop approach, to enable individuals to have hands on experience of appraising evidence. This session is also suitable for those developing a research project, and want to critically appraise what others have done in this area.
It will cover:
- how to systematically examine research evidence to assess its validity, results, and relevance before using it to inform a decision
- practical skills and tools to critical appraise quantitative research
- practical skills and tools to critical appraise qualitative research
- Hands on experience of appraisal during the session
