This programme will be held via Teams – the link is embedded in the calendar invite.
The programme will provide the opportunity to develop self-awareness; leadership and management skills to support participants’ effectiveness in what can be exciting yet challenging roles within NECS.
The programme is open to individuals who may be new to leadership roles or who would value the opportunity to refresh and reflect on their skills and effectiveness. Peer-group interaction, break-out group discussion and personal reflection and development planning will be utilised throughout to support individuals to hone their style and make practical changes. Some ‘bespoke’ elements can be added in later workshops in response to participant needs/interest.
Session 1 – the challenges we face in leadership roles, dealing with the context we operate in (in support of the wider NHS), the relevance of collective and compassionate leadership, different work motivation styles, resilience
Session 2 – trust, engaging with individual (including being supportive and playing to peoples’ strengths), building accountable teams, taking leadership self-assessment forward by using the Healthcare Leadership Model from the NHS Leadership Academy
Session 3 – understanding the emotional mind and its impact, emotional intelligence and emotional management in the context of self-management and relationship management, being proactive and assertive, listening skills, giving feedback
Session 4 – role clarification, giving feedback to support others’ performance and development, reviewing the learning and identifying development goals.
Training will be delivered by Sophia Martin; a leadership development facilitator and trainer with 30 years’ experience of supporting leaders and managers in developing their skills and effectiveness. Sophia has worked for NECS since its foundation and has provided development and support for individuals in challenging times. Sophia takes a positive and encouraging approach in facilitation with individuals and groups.
