Please Note:  This course is for North Yorkshire and York City practice staff only

This course will enable users to understand the importance of coding, become familiar with using codes in practice and how to use them in a medical record

Objectives

  • Understand what clinical codes are and the benefits of using them
  • Understand SNOMED concepts, hierarchies and alternative terms
  • Use the SystmOne Read Code browser and the different ways it works with SNOMED codes
  • Coding in records, eg problems, summary items
  • Understand the data quality implications, issues and risks when coding
  • Hints and tips to support coding
