Description

Risk management

The goal of risk management in NECS is to identify and respond to situations that could cause a negative impact (financial, patient, reputational or otherwise) or prevent us from achieving our strategic objectives.  Risk management can also be used to capture and assess the upside opportunities in uncertain environments, such as risks taken on by the organisation to achieve or enhance the achievement of objectives such as risks associated with the development of new strategies.

The aim of this session is to provide managers in NECS with an overview of the corporate risk management framework including a look at current risks, ways to identify risks, NECS’ risk appetite, the support available from the governance team and how to access the Safeguard Incident Risk Management System (SIRMS).

Incident Management

The reporting and management of near miss events and incidents enables NECS to learn lessons and supports implementation of actions to prevent adverse events and incidents from reoccurring. Encouraging and embedding the reporting of all near miss events and incidents will ensure that the reputation of NECS is maintained, enhanced, and its resources are used effectively to ensure business success, financial strength and continuous quality improvement in its operating model.

The aim of this session is to provide NECS managers with an overview of the corporate incident reporting and management policy and procedures, including types of near miss events and incidents, how to report and manage incidents, how to refer management responsibility to other service teams to investigate events and the support available from the governance team.

Please note that these sessions are for FMG members initially so if you book a place and are not a member, your booking may be cancelled.

If you require any reasonable adjustments or accessibility support as part of the session, please let us know as soon as possible, or where possible a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the training date. This is to ensure that where feasible, appropriate accommodations can be put in place. If you have any concerns or queries in addition to this, then please contact the trainer/facilitator directly for a discussion.  Please contact necsu.riskmanagement@nhs.net
